"Τὰ μὲν οὖν τῆς πίστεως μυστήρια πάντων ἐστὶ χρῆ ταμιεύεσθαι· τὸ μυστικὸν καὶ ἀπόρρητον λόγον, ὃν ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ ἐδίδαξεν. Μηδὲν τὸ ἅγιον τοῖς κυσὶ δότε, μηδὲ βάλῆτε τοὺς μαργαρίτας ἔμπροσθεν τῶν χοίρων. Εἰ γὰρ κοινῇ τὸν ἀπόρρητον τοῦ λόγου διδάξωμεν, τοῦτο μὲν χλευάσομεν, τοῦτο δὲ τοῖς βαναύσοις καὶ καταφρονηταῖς καταράντες." [Clement, Stromata 1.1]
