What is Mysticos PG 1 - 32
What Early Christian Writers Actually Called “Mystical”: PG 1–32
The most useful way to approach the expression τὸ μυστικὸν εὐαγγέλιον in the Letter to Theodore is not to begin with modern definitions of “mystical,” but with the ancient evidence. What nouns do Christian writers actually qualify with μυστικός? The following table updates the survey through PG 32. It counts distinct patristic usages rather than raw OCR hits or duplicate printings of the same passage. Greek and facing Latin versions of the same passage are counted once; editorial-only comments, indexes and duplicate reprintings are not counted as independent patristic uses. Pseudonymous or doubtful material is retained and identified as such.
